Catch a drink with me on Sunday!

by That Kind of Girl on August 25, 2010

Now that the project is out of its madcap final days and I have a little time to breathe, let’s meet up and catch a dang drink, shall we?

Sunday, August 29th. 3-5pm. Regal Beagle in Brookline.

Yes, it’s Moving Day weekend, BUT! can I tempt you with the information that my friggin’ mother will be there?! Yeah, she’s basically the coolest lady in the world, and definitely funnier than me. I’ll be honest with you guys — I’m the one throwing the silly party and even I’m mostly going to be there to bask in her awesomeness.

Come say hey, grab a gin/basil martini and a bacon-wrapped date, and give me a friggin’ fistbump after a year of awesome.

Also, if you’re interested in coming, can you shoot me a comment so I can have enough of an idea in my head to try to strike up a drink deal with the management?

(And for those of you who might have speculated that I’m trying to avoid a big introspective wrap-up by filling my blog with short administrative posts now that the project’s over, all I can say is that i’m offended, affronted and, what, are you part super-sleuth or something?! While I’m enjoying some blogging rest this week, check me out at Secret Society of List Addicts for a list of completely insignificant things I’m weirdly good at.)

Ummm, excuse me, but I feel it needs to be mentioned that your awesome sister will be there, too!!!

(and maybe Sister’s boyfriend…)

Please come back to California so I can meet you and your mother (and Sister and Sister +1)!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! There is not nearly enough exclamation points to describe how I feel.

For the usual reasons, I won’t be there, but virtual drinks all round, and virtual fistbumps to Mom, Sister and TKOG herself from Scotland.

1) Thank you for the kind words!, and 2) your comment made me envision a 2900-mile-long fistbump, which (obviously) made me think of Dahlsim from Street Fighter. Oh goodness. I am such a nerd.

ARGH! Like everyone else, I’M MOVING THAT DAY!!!

Promise me we can grab coffee with or without booze in it sometime before I leave for you-know-where. We’ve got 8 weeks from today.

Drat! I know, it’s the worst possible day! I just had to work with my mom’s schedule! Although, on the bright side, I’m reasonably sure all the bars in Boston will be pretty empty. Which really makes me want to talk some proprietor into turning his Moving-Day-empty bar into an impromptu karaoke venue.

Also, omg, eight weeks! Yes! We must hang before then! (And, hint, the coffee will definitely contain booze.)

I’m gonna try to make it out on Sunday! Can’t make any promises, but I will sure as hell try! I will text you if I know for sure in the next couple days.

And if not, you knows we gotta get together soon! I have a lot of your blogging to catch up on considering I have been slightly MIA for a couple weeks.

I’m not moving until Tuesday and my mommy doesn’t come to town until Monday which means I should be there.

I will be there, barring any weirdness getting back from the Cape and stowing The Boyfriend in a closet somewhere so I can attend unfettered.

I would like to be there, but it seems you’ve scheduled this shindig a little far from my home base. I’d accuse you of selfishness, but I suppose that a person who shares bubbles with the world at large can hardly be called selfish.

Please consider this a long distance fist-bump from a naked person in Ohio. (Pssst…me.)

I wanna come!!!!!!! But, I live in Japan. Flights are expensive. I guess I’ll have to sit this one out. Dammit.

Aww, that sounds great, but it’s tough to get there from way up here in Western Canada….. Please have a gin and ginger for me!

Also, too funny you mentioned Street Fighter…. I was discussing my boyfriend/my own costumes for Halloween with someone, and we are going as Chun Li and Ryu! But, we are also nerdy people… now we are trying to talk his friends into going as Dahlsim, Akuma, and Ken. Cause nerdiness loves company.

If I win the $ 1000 I would need for transatlantic plane tickets. Otherwise I’ll be sure to drink to you from over here – congratulation on your achievement, it is huge and was carried out with such style! (Dude, seriously, you are SO COOL. Too cool to let the all caps go to your head, even)

Alas! Like everyone else, I live far too far away to give you a victory-fistbump. Might I ask permission to raise a glass of St. Germaine in your honour from afar?

Reply

That Kind of Girl August 26, 2010 at 3:59 pm

!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It is probably safest to raise a glass of St. Germaine in my honor only from afar, because if I’m too close, I’ll swipe it out of your hand myself! Also, have you experienced the St. Germaine Fizz, one of the all-time great drinks?

Two ounces each St. Germaine and fresh-squeezed lime juice, and half an egg white. Shake it — like you’re waking it up, not like you’re rocking it to sleep — in freshly cracked ice for one to two minutes, until your shaker is covered with condensation, your arms are throbbing, and the egg white has developed into a stiff foamy head. Decant. Delight.

I’d totally go but I don’t live near enough to you. It sounds like a good time will be had by all. I hope you write about it so I can experience it vicariously.

Dears, a lovely time was had by all, although I must mention that Sister was monitoring my “truth serum.” Among those in attendance were Hot Hands, Picasso, Tin Man, Todd, Jenny and of course TKOG, Sister and yours truly.
As always the “Beagle” was “regal.”
